A Trip to Thomas Graphics
This morning Bethany and I went to meet with Allen Haverkos at Thomas Graphics. Thomas Graphics is a commercial printer in Dayton and we went there to discuss the quote for Orpheus, University of Dayton’s Art & Literary magazine (for students, by students). It was my first time actually meeting with a printer to discuss a project. He showed us some paper samples, chip board, and some exciting coil options. It went really well and I’m very excited to see the project in its final stage! We still have a lot of designing to do but I like the direction we’ve decided to go [top secret! not really…].
Allen gave us a tour of the place after our meeting which was really cool. We saw a digital printer in the preflight area, at least three different offset printers, the warehouse where they stock all the paper and the binding/folding room. I’m learning about all of this stuff in my print/design production class, so it was awesome to see it up close. I felt like a kid in a candy store!
Check out Orpheus’s Facebook page if you’re interested.
